This coin was used in the market places in the regions of southern Kerala. They were in use from around th late 18th - mid 19th Century. These coins are several in variety. They are of Bi-metal alloy and are usually 9 - 12 mm in diameter.

TANJORE MARATHAS - DAGGER FANAM

Tanjore Marathas Gold Dagger Fanam. This coin was issued by the Marathas between 1674 - 1855 AD

The Obverse has a Maratha Dagger. The reverse shows what looks to be like a stylized lion. The coin is 7 mm in diameter and weighs approx 0.35 gms.

RAMANAN ruled in Dharmapuri in 1511 AD. These type coins have been first attributed to Ramanan by Natana Kasinathan

THIS COIN IS APPROXIMATELY 10 MM DIA

Coins have been found throughout Madurai with "Sri Vee Ra" written on the Reverse with a variety of different images on the Obverse. These coins are all mostly copper with some found in brass. Over 100 varieties are known with some being very common and some being extremely rare. The coins date between 1529 - 1732 ADbelonging to the Madurai Nayaks.

Unreported Tanjore Nayaks Coin (1532 - 1673 AD)

This is a yet to be published coin. This is attributed to the Tanjore Nayaks because of the image on the Reverse of a standing king that is similar to other coins of the Tanjore Nayaks.

The Obverse depicts a horse rider carrying a sword/ dagger/

The coin is about 9 mm in diameter and is of copper metal

This coin is extremely rare.
